The Airdrie Health Foundation (AHF) is returning the formal Light Up the Night Gala for the first time in-person since the COVID-19 pandemic started, with early bird tickets to the September 24 event on sale now.

The Gala is AHF’s largest annual fundraiser, and packed with great food and entertainment for the evening, executive director Michelle Bates said they’re excited to bring the community back together.

“We’re finally back in-person, and it will be great to see everybody. It’s our major fundraiser of the year, so we’re really glad to be back having that (in person),” said Bates.

Happening at Genesis Place, the Gala is taking on a carnival theme this year. Sorso Lounge will be serving cocktails, roaming entertainers will be making rounds throughout the gala during cocktail hour, and Flaysher will be performing some live music for attendees to hit the dance floor.

Bates said it’s a great excuse to get well-dressed and have a night out for a good cause.

“We don’t have a lot of black-tie formal events in Airdrie, so everyone gets to dress up really fancy and have a night on the town,” she said.

A number of things are on AHF’s wishlist, including dummy heads for pediatric training, said Bates.

“We see more and more high-level patients who come into urgent care, so this will give training,” she said.

“Those are used for critical illnesses, as well as to help with airways—say if someone has asthma or allergic reactions where their airways are compromised.”
